Dual Enrollment Information Sessions

Dual Enrollment New Student Orientation sessions are held to prepare high school students for success in college-level courses. The learning objectives typically focus on helping students understand expectations, resources, policies, and strategies for academic success.

2. Explain the purpose and benefits of dual enrollment.
3. Understand the responsibilities of being both a high school and college student.
4. Navigate College Systems
5. Access the student portal, email, and learning management system (such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle).
6. Locate class schedules, grades, and course materials.
7. Understand Academic Expectations
8. Recognize the differences between high school and college coursework.
9. Understand attendance requirements, grading policies, academic integrity, and deadlines.
10. Identify Campus Resources
11. Locate tutoring, library services, academic advising, disability services, counseling, and technology support.
12. Know how and when to seek assistance.
13. Understand Student Rights and Responsibilities
14. Become familiar with student conduct policies.
15. Learn about privacy laws (FERPA) and how they affect communication with parents and guardians.
16. Develop College Success Skills
17. Practice time management, organization, study strategies, and self-advocacy.
18. Understand the importance of communication with instructors.
