FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Florida Gateway College Theatre Department will present four performances of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” July 23-26 in the Levy Performing Arts Center.

The production will tell the classic comedic tale of romance and mistaken identity in a socially distant adaptation to keep cast, crew, and audience safe during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

“Our goal was to prove that during these unprecedented times, theatre and performing arts could still exist and thrive,” said FGC Theatre professor Todd Siff, who is directing the production. “Our version of ‘Twelfth Night’ will remind our audiences that laughter, joy, and silliness can help bring us through the toughest of times.”

“Throughout the process, we have worked to create the safest environment possible for all people involved,” Siff added, stating that CDC and local health department guidelines have been followed during the rehearsal process.

The cast and crew are made up of 22 students and local community members. Actors will wear face shields throughout the performances, and audiences will be limited to 50 people per show seated to maintain social distance. As with all buildings at FGC, face masks will be required for all audience members inside the Levy
Auditorium.
