LAKE CITY, Fla. – On Monday, February 27, Florida Gateway College will present the annual Black History Month Program in the Levy Performing Arts Center. The event serves as the culmination of FGC’s month-long recognition of Black History Month.

Dr. Rodney Brown, the college’s first Black student, will serve as guest speaker and will share with FGC students and guests the wisdom he has gained over a lifetime of adversity, perseverance, and success. The event will also feature remarks from Lake City Chief of Police Gerald Butler and Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter.

The program will include musical entertainment from Aspirations Foundations, a performance from the FGC Cheerleaders, and a choral performance by 1000 Voices of Florida.

The entire community is invited to join the staff, faculty, and students of FGC for the celebration of African American history and culture. Doors open at 11 a.m. with the program beginning at 11:30.
