July 12, 2023 FGC Offering CTE Programs to District High School Seniors Share Share this post Twitter Facebook eMail Copy URL Copy In the 2023-2024 academic year, Florida Gateway College will offer a slate of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs to qualifying high school seniors in the college’s five-county service district. This is an initiative of FGC Dual Enrollment and will serve as a pilot program, opening the door to continuing and potentially expanding CTE dual enrollment offerings in the future. Beginning this Fall, the following FGC programs will be available to eligible high school seniors: Automotive Automotive Service Technician, College Credit Certificate General Automotive Technician, College Credit Certificate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Nursing Assistant, Occupational Certificate Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Commercial Heating and Air Conditioning, Occupational Certificate Water Resources Water Quality Technician, College Credit Certificate Welding Welding Technology, Occupational Certificate Advanced Welding Technology, Occupational Certificate “We at FGC, in collaboration with our secondary partners, see this as an incredible opportunity for students to gain access to high-quality training and to jumpstart their careers in high-demand industries,” said Kris Brady, Executive Director of Workforce, Public Service, & Technology Programs. By taking part in these or any of FGC’s dual enrollment programs, students can begin to build their college and professional careers, tuition-free, while still in high school. In order to be eligible for these dual enrollment CTE programs, students must be a high school senior in the 2023-2024 academic year, must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and must attempt the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education). If a qualifying TABE score is not achieved, students can still participate by submitting an Algebra I end-of-course exam score of 3 or higher. Students and parents can learn more about FGC’s dual enrollment CTE programs at one of two Dual Enrollment Information Sessions on Thursday, July 13, at 2 p.m. and Thursday, July 20, at 5:30 p.m. in the Rivers Library & Welcome Center, Bldg. 200.
