Florida Gateway College is nestled on the outskirts of Lake City. Entertainment, retail and restaurant establishments in the area are rapidly developing and present residents with many choices, from local businesses to popular chains. The movie theater, bowling alley, shopping venues, and some great coffee companies are popular spots. Lake City also offers many civic and religious opportunities.
This area of North Florida is known for outdoor recreational activities with its abundant lakes and rivers, parks, and festivals. We have two golf courses, a local race track, and the Columbia Aquatic Complex. You can make a day trip to Stephen Foster State Park, Oleno State Park, Ichetucknee Springs State Park, and more. Alligator Lake Park is just 10 minutes from campus and offers many great hiking trails and fishing. Every year, Lake City hosts the Olustee Battle Festival and Re-enactment, the Columbia County Fair, Fourth of July celebration, Snow day and Annual Christmas parade, and much more.
We’re located close to Jacksonville, Gainesville, and Tallahassee. For more information, visit Lake City’s Chamber of Commerce website. For things to do in our area, visit the Columbia County website. For additional resources, visit Lake City’s Community helpful links.
We want to go further together with our students, as well as the communities we serve. Elevating our communities with an educated workforce and enrichment opportunities, such as cultural experiences at our Performing Arts Center, are important to the mission of FGC. We realize the connection with our communities is not a one-way street. We’re able to support students and accomplish many of our programs and services because of gracious community members who give to our Foundation and offer services to our students. In addition, area vendors are important to the operations of FGC. Explore FGC’s Community Resource Manual to learn more.
