April 5, 2023 FGC Freshman Antewan Webber Named NJCAA First Team All-American Share Share this post Twitter Facebook eMail Copy URL Copy Florida Gateway College freshman and Timberwolves top scorer, Antewan Webber, has been selected for the NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball All-America First Team. The NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Committee released their selections for the first, second, and third teams Tuesday afternoon, April 4. Webber is one of only 10 players named as First Team All-Americans from a pool of DII Men’s Basketball players from colleges across the nation. He is the sole freshman among those chosen for the First Team and is FGC’s first basketball All-American since the re-establishment of athletics in 2017. “We’re still blown away. We’re excited,” said FGC Head Coach Charles Ruise. “This is an opportunity for Antewan to see that he has set the standard for what we are trying to do with this program. You’ve got to be well-rounded. First, you’ve got to be the student, then you’ve got to be the athlete. Antewan has demonstrated nothing but that, and we’re proud to have him represent the FGC Timberwolves. It means a lot to the program.” Webber started his career at FGC as a walk-on, becoming the team’s top scorer for the 2022-23 season and being named the NJCAA DII Region 8 Player of the Year, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. The Timberwolves claimed the titles of 2022-23 conference champions, regional champions, district champions, and made their second-straight appearance at the NJCAA DII National Championship Tournament. “I’m speechless, to be honest,” Webber said of his selection. “I’m stunned by the news.
