May 19, 2022 FGC Athletics Signs New Athletes for 2022-2023 Season Share Share this post Twitter Facebook eMail Copy URL Copy LAKE CITY, Fla. – Florida Gateway College Athletics is excited to announce the signing of new student-athletes to the college’s Cross Country team and brand-new Flag Football team for the upcoming 2022-2023 athletics season. 2022 New Flag Football Athletes Makenzie Phillian WR/DB – (Tampa, FL / Hillsborough High School)Phillian helped lead her Hillsborough HS team to an 11-4 record on the season including a district championship and their first regional playoff appearance that included a win and advancement to the regional semi-finals. She tallied almost 50 receptions on the year for over 500 yards of offense and 10 touchdowns. Defensively she had five interceptions. She projects as a dynamic receiver and defensive back at the next level. Klaudia Taylor ATH – (Ocala, FL / Forest High School)Klaudia helped lead Forest HS into the Flag Football world the last two years and starred mainly as a running back and rusher for her high school team. She led an explosive rushing attack rushing for over 800 yards and 10 touchdowns to go along with 20 tackles on defense. Klaudia is a versatile athlete who is expected to contribute at many spots at the next level. Ashley Smith QB- (Jacksonville, FL / Mandarin High School)Ashley is a quarterback coming to FGC from Mandarin HS right down the road in Jacksonville, FL. She had a tremendous season leading her team to the district semi-final while throwing for over 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns. She demonstrates strong poise in the pocket and the ability to make every throw on the field. Kiana Hamilton WR/DB – (Ocala, FL / Lake Weir High School)Kiana is a play making WR and DB from Lake Weir HS in Ocala, FL. She has the ability to score every time she touches the ball and is a dynamic athlete. She had over 30 receptions this season for over 500 yards and nine touchdowns while also securing eight interceptions on defense. She will be a big part of the Timberwolf offense and defense moving forward. 2022 New XC Athletes Morgan Wilson – (Tallahassee, FL / Community Christian School)Qualified for the 2AR1 regional track meet in three events in 2022 and placed 37th at the 1A State XC Meet in 2020. Her personal records (PR) are: 800m 2:33, 1600m 5:55, 3200m 13:07, 5K XC 20:33. Keri Levingston – (Crawfordville, FL / Wakulla High School)Qualified for 3A State XC Meet in 2021 with her team. PRs are: 800m 2:49, 1600m 6:14, 5K XC 21:52. Ashlyn Speigner – (Crawfordville, FL / Wakulla High School)Joins her teammate from Wakulla HS, a perennial state meet qualifier in Class 3A. PRs are: 800m 3:08, 1600m 6:52, 5K XC 23:21. Phillian, Taylor, Smith, and Hamilton make history as four of the first student-athletes to join FGC’s first-ever Flag Football program. Wilson, Livingston, and Speigner join a Cross Country team that has seen significant success since its debut in 2018.
