LAKE CITY, Fla. – Three recent graduates of Florida Gateway College’s Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (BEE) program and first-year teachers are being recognized as outstanding educators serving their local school districts and communities.
Emilee Blanton, Lindsey Thomas, and Kalin Corbin began the 2024-2025 academic year as senior interns and ended as first-year teachers. All three have earned Highly Qualified principal ratings after their first school year in the classroom.
“Our teachers are making a significant impact in the school systems they have chosen to serve,” said Dr. Elizabeth Carroll, FGC Associate Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences. “The Bachelor of Elementary Education program at FGC is committed to building the next generation of phenomenal educators.”
Blanton and Thomas teach in Columbia County Schools and both received a highly effective principal rating during their first year of teaching, showcasing the high standard of education and the positive impact on student learning in our community. Corbin teaches in Suwannee County Schools where her students made significant gains and proficiency levels. During this time, Suwannee County was recognized as one of the top school districts in Florida.
