Building Entry & Room Clearing Tactics for Officers

Course Description

The Building Entry & Room Clearing Tactics for Patrol Officers course is an extensive and immersive two-day training program designed to enhance law enforcement professionals' skills, knowledge, and expertise in building entry and room-clearing operations.

This comprehensive program equips participants with the latest tactics, techniques, and procedures needed to conduct safe and successful operations in complex and dynamic environments.

Note: The first day of the course will be held off-site at a local shoot house.

Course Objectives

Participants will:

  • Improve proficiency in building entry and room-clearing tactics through hands-on training and scenario-based exercises.
  • Learn key elements and strategies for successful operations in complex structures, including:
    • Apartments
    • Houses
    • Offices
    • Industrial buildings
  • Participate in immersive scenario training that applies learned skills to realistic situations, promoting effective decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of the importance of:
    • Situational awareness
    • Communication
    • Teamwork during building entry and room-clearing operations

General Instructor Techniques (Olustee Campus)

FDLE Course #1186

Course Description

This course is designed to introduce students to the roles, responsibilities, skills, knowledge, and expectations of a successful instructor while enhancing facilitation and instructional abilities.

This specialized instructor course provides the required training for officers seeking General Instructor Certification. Due to the competency-based nature of the course, each student must:

  • Demonstrate basic competency as an instructor
  • Complete a final presentation
  • Earn a minimum score of 85% on the written end-of-course examination

This course may also be used for mandatory retraining or salary incentive credit.

Speed Measurement

FDLE Course #1158 – 40 Hours (Day Course)

Course Description

This course satisfies the requirements of Florida Statute 943.14 and is designed to improve the effectiveness of speed enforcement through the proper and effective use of RADAR speed measurement instruments.

Students will learn:

  • The theory and application of police traffic RADAR and laser technology
  • Proper operation of speed measurement equipment
  • The relationship between speeding offenses, motor vehicle crashes, and injuries
  • Development, concepts, and principles of police traffic RADAR and laser
  • Procedures for testing equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Potential sources of measurement error

The course includes at least 12 hours of hands-on practical exercises.

Officers who successfully complete this course may be eligible for a salary incentive payment or may apply the course toward mandatory retraining requirements under Florida Statutes.
