LAKE CITY, Fla. – Florida Gateway College has been awarded a grant in the amount of $35,000 by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. The award funding, provided by the Community Foundation’s Edward K. Roberts Community College Fund, will help provide need-based scholarships to deserving FGC students, with a special focus on parent scholars.

These scholarships will be awarded through the Foundation for Florida Gateway College for the 2026-2027 academic year with a preference for FGC students who are parents and/or part-time students who may not qualify for other sources of financial aid.

“We are very grateful for this generous grant,” said Rebecca Golden, Director of Resource Development at the Foundation for FGC. “With these funds, we will continue to live our mission of serving the students of FGC.”

Scholarship amounts will vary ― with a maximum of $3,000 per recipient  depending on individual needs and can be used to cover a wide range of eligible educational expenses, including tuition, books, fees, and essential living expenses such as housing, childcare, and transportation.
