LAKE CITY, Fla. – The Florida Gateway College Student Government Association (SGA) has been recognized on the national stage after being named the Student Government of the Month for July 2026 by the American Student Government Association (ASGA).

The American Student Government Association is the nation's largest professional organization supporting student governments and student leaders at colleges and universities. Each month, the ASGA honors student governments from across the nation for exceptional work in engaging, leading, and representing their respective student bodies. FGC SGA is recognized for “the breadth and consistency of its programming,” its “signature events and activities,” and “outstanding commitment to student engagement, campus involvement, and student representation.”

SGA is part of a broad range of organizations supported through FGC Student Life, which offers leadership opportunities, clubs, campus events, recreation, and programs designed to help students connect and succeed beyond the classroom. Under the leadership of Amy Dekle, FGC Director of Student Life, there is always an opportunity to have fun, get involved, and become a student leader.

"This national recognition reflects the dedication and creativity of our student leaders," said Brandilynn Dean, Executive Director of Financial Aid and Student Engagement. “We’re excited to welcome students back for another outstanding academic year and continue building even more opportunities for students to connect, engage, and make lasting memories. It all starts with Welcome Back Week this Fall, which will feature a variety of exciting events and activities as SGA continues its commitment to creating a vibrant and engaging campus experience for all students.”
