FGC's Response to the National Call to Action

Florida Gateway College plays an important role in the five North Central Florida counties we serve. As a rural-serving institution, we know that having access to an affordable, quality education close to home can make a significant difference for students and families. Whether students plan to enter the workforce, transfer to a university, or advance in their careers, our goal is to make sure they leave FGC prepared for their next step.

In response to U.S. Secretary of Education's National Call to Action, Florida Gateway College reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence, affordability, transparency, accountability, strong student outcomes, and meeting Florida's workforce needs.

These commitments can be seen in the work we do across the College. Our dual enrollment partnerships with local school districts have helped more students earn college credentials before high school graduation and successfully transition into college. We've also continued to expand career and technical education opportunities and work with local employers to prepare students for jobs that are needed throughout our region.

FGC has not increased tuition since the 2012–13 academic year, reflecting our commitment to keeping college affordable. We help students navigate financial aid opportunities and provide academic advising, tutoring, and other support services to reduce barriers and help them stay on track toward completing their education.

Providing educational opportunities is only part of our responsibility. We have to make sure students receive the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. That means maintaining strong academic standards, regularly reviewing student achievement and program effectiveness, and being transparent about our results. FGC uses this information to identify where we're doing well, where improvements are needed, and how we can better serve our students. Our Consumer Information webpage serves as a central resource for information about the College, including student outcomes, institutional performance, and other important information for students and the public.

As we move forward, we will continue to uphold academic integrity, use institutional resources responsibly, and work closely with our school districts, employers, and community partners to meet the changing needs of our region. We will also continue to evaluate our programs and services and make improvements that support student success and maintain the quality of an FGC education.

Our focus remains on helping students achieve their goals, preparing them for what comes next, and making sure Florida Gateway College continues to be a resource our communities can count on.
