Steps for New Students

Apply for Admission – Free!

Apply online at Apply Now.

High School Transcript

Send official high school transcript to Enrollment Services, Florida Gateway College, 149 SE College Place, Lake City, FL 32025. If you had official transcripts sent directly to you, do not open them. You will need to send the official transcript, in the unopened envelope, to Enrollment Services through the U.S. mail.

Provide Proof of Residency

This step ensures that you receive the appropriate tuition rate when you register for classes. Proving residency reduces your tuition over 70%. For example, a 3 credit class will cost $310 instead of $1175. Complete the residency declaration and send documents to Office of Enrollment Services. While the campus is closed to students and visitors, documents may not be delivered in person. Residency declaration and related documents may be submitted to the Office of Enrollment Services through mail, email, or fax. Mailing Address: Enrollment Services, Florida Gateway College, 149 SE College Place, Lake City, FL 32025. Email Address: Enrollment.services@fgc.edu, Fax: 386-754-4581

College Transcripts

Send official transcripts from all previously attending colleges to Enrollment Services, Florida Gateway College, 149 SE College Place, Lake City, FL 32025. If you had official transcripts sent directly to you, do not open them. You will need to send the official transcript, in the unopened envelope, to Enrollment Services through the U.S. mail. We will evaluate your college transcripts for transfer credit as they are received and notify you at your wolves email account upon completion. This step is necessary to receive advising, financial aid and ability to register for classes.

Financial Aid

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) whether you think you are eligible or not. Many scholarship opportunities at FGC require a completed FAFSA. Check this step off your list as early as possible – may be done prior to admission. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov FGC school code: 001501

Meet with an Advisor

Advising is required before you can register and is important in planning your courses. Your success as a student is our priority. You can contact our advising center by email, advising@fgc.edu or call us at 386-754-4222 for all your meeting options.

Placement Testing (if needed)

ACT, SAT and PERT test scores may be used for placement into college-level courses. You may be exempt from placement testing if you meet the following criteria according to Senate Bill 1720: Started 9th grade in the 2003-2004 school year or later at a Florida, public high school AND graduated from a Florida, public high school with a standard high school diploma. Advisors still recommend all students placement test prior to the first term of registration in order to determine where you should start in college-level courses in order to be successful. If you’ve taken the ACT or SAT in the past two years, those may be used for placement. To access a study guide in the meantime, go to https://www.fgc.edu/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/PERT-FAQS.pdf. Contact the Test Center at test.center@fgc.edu or 386-754-7378 or visit Test Center.
