Grants Department Staff

Florida Gateway College’s Grants Department has years of combined experience writing and managing government and foundation grants. Our staff takes great pride in adhering to the highest ethical standards of grant making. As members of the Council for Resource Development, Grants Department  staff  members frequently engage in professional development opportunities to ensure we provide our dedicated faculty and administration with the latest development resources.

Sandra R. Johnston, M.S.
Director of Grants and Grants Management

Sandra joined Florida Gateway College in July 2004 as a former graduate of the institution.  Sandra served as the Associate Registrar from 2004 – 2008, and Director of Enrollment Management from 2008-2017. Sandra has also taught as an adjunct developmental math instructor for Florida Gateway College.  Sandra brings to the Office of Grants and Grants Management an extensive working knowledge of the college, as well as governmental operations pertaining to the provision of higher education. She possesses a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from St. Leo University, a Master’s of Science in Counseling and Psychology from the University of West Alabama with post-graduate work in Higher Education Administration, as well as Adult and Career Development at the University of Florida and Valdosta State University, respectively.

Swanzetta Johnson, BS
Coordinator of Grant Management

Swanzetta joined the Florida Gateway College team in January 2010 as the Coordinator of Grant Management for Title III Project EXCEL program. Prior to joining Florida Gateway College, Swanzetta was employed at the non-profit organization Unity Family Community Center and served as the NAB Program Director and Life Skills Program Director. She has experience in grant management and writing and also served as a tutor for Supplemental Education Services in Alachua and Levy Counties. Swanzetta is currently an active member of the National Grants Management Association and Association of Florida Colleges. Swanzetta received her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University and will complete her Master of Management and Leadership at Webster University in May 2014. Swanzetta has a passion for dance, is a mother of 4, and her family is an important aspect of her life.
