Medical Coder Biller
The program is designed to prepare students for employment in a variety of healthcare settings as entry level coder or medical coder/billers (Industry Title). The content includes medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, coding systems, fundamentals of disease process including pharmacology, healthcare delivery systems, basics of health record content, ethical and legal responsibilities, privacy procedures, basic data processing, and employability skills.
To be officially considered for this program a student must:
- be a high school graduate or have a GED,
- complete a Florida Gateway College application,
- complete the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) with a score of Math 10, Language 11, Reading 11 by the end of the program or provide transcripts showing satisfactory college placement test scores or completion of college level courses in Reading, Math, and Language.
