The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Exam

What is the FDLE Exam?

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Exam is a certification test controlled by the State of Florida. The state of Florida requires those who want to become a criminal justice officer must take and pass this exam. The FDLE exam measures students’ knowledge and competency in their chosen discipline.  

Florida Gateway College now offers the State Officer Certificate Exam (SOCE) as a Computer Based Test (CBT). Any recruit graduating from our training center will take their certification exam at the Florida Gateway College Test Center (Bldg 17, Rm 1) located on main campus.

There are several FDLE exams and each correlates to the basic recruit requirements for a specific officer type:

  • Law Enforcement Officer
  • Correctional Officer
  • Correctional Probation Officer

What is the Exam Content?

There are certain criteria you must meet before you can become an entry-level officer in a specific area. The certification exams measure your competency in your specific criminal justice specialization.
