NOTE: Florida Gateway College has been notified that it has received continuing accreditation for its Paramedic- RN program by ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing).
The Paramedic-RN Bridge (PM-RN) is designed for licensed Paramedics. Accepted Paramedics can complete the core nursing courses of the Associate in Science Degree in Nursing PM-RN Bridge Program within approximately 3 semesters. Upon successful completion of the PM-RN Bridge track, the student receives an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing and is qualified to apply for State Board of Nursing NCLEX examination. If successful on this exam, the graduate becomes a Registered Nurse (RN). Graduates of the program are qualified to enter a variety of careers such as staff nurses in acute care settings, home health agencies or long term care facilities. Individuals with both paramedic and RN licensure may also serve on Medevac helicopters. Advancement in nursing education is encouraged through referral to the RN-BSN program.
The fourth class of Paramedic-RN bridge students will start in January 2017.
Program applications are due September 16, 2016 for the applicants who have met the program requirements outlined in the information packet and completed all required prerequisite courses to be considered for the fourth class.
